Horkans Garden Centre in Castlebar Co. Mayo have received planning permission from Mayo County Council for a new retail garden centre development located on a ten acre green field site near the National Museum of Country Life in Turlough Castlebar. The development will include a large retail garden shop specialising in garden plants and products, a pet centre with children’s play areas, a restaurant and gift shop, an all-weather outdoor plant and garden products area with themed displays and display features. There will be parking spaces for 160 cars. Horkans are investing £1.5 million into this new venture, which will create eight new full time positions, and up to ten part time positions. Development work on the site is due to start in 2002 with an opening date in early September 2002.
Location. The new development is located four miles from Castlebar town on the N5 Dublin to Westport national primary route.
