Mayo Community Platform, a network of community development organisations across Mayo, believes that this election could be a defining moment for this country. The events over the last two and a half years have made many people very disillusioned with politics in this country.

Eoghan Murphy of Mayo Community Platform said:

"Now is the time to tackle this. This can only be achieved by people becoming more involved and paying more attention to political affairs in this country. The first way that this can be done is by voting and you can only vote if you are registered."

You can check if you are registered on the website http://www.checktheregister.ie. If you are not registered you can print off the form RFA2 or alternatively you can also collect this form from your local post office or library. This form needs to be stamped by the Garda Siochána, you may need to show photo identification to the Garda. The form should be brought to the local Council offices fourteen days before Election Day. So if an election is to be on the 25th February you would need to be registered by the 8th of February.

Eoghan Murphy added, "Make a difference and get registered."
