How Reflective are You?

Jedward mania has reached an all-time high this week, after two young Ballina guys were posted on youtube looking and singing like jedward.

But the purpose of these youtube clips has a more serious tone. The clips are used to delivery a road safety message to young people of their age to wear reflective clothing and in doing so reduce the number of fatalities on our roads. The two boys that are dressed up as Jedward are called Enda McHale and Stephen Glacken. They have renamed themselves as STENDA.

"We can't really sing but it's fun, everyone in school thinks it's cool, and we are getting an important message to our friends" they added. Check out their YouTube Video

This has been part of a campaign by Aradagh Foroige youth club Ballina for the Permanent TSB, Foróige Youth Citizenship Programme and Awards enable young people to make a positive difference to the world around them.

"Be safe, be seen, is the motto. Now that the temperatures are starting to rise, more people will be out walking and cycling, and it is vital that they are seen," Mrs Ann Flynn club leader said.

"We must raise awareness of the dangers people face on the roads and highlight what they can do to keep themselves safe and, ultimately, alive. This campaign highlights the importance of been visible to other road users said Mr Noel Gibbons Road Safety Officer Mayo County Council.
