Making a welcome return to the Linenhall for a wonderful evening of music and so much more, Castlebar Gospel Choir, on their tenth anniversary, along with some very special guests present an evening celebrating the spirit of freedom that has evolved in the USA tracing the movement from slavery to civil rights to the inauguration of President Barrack Obama.
These periods in history have been accompanied by a soundtrack of exceptional music with some of the most enduring songs ever written charting the empowerment and perseverance that has brought us to present day events. From slave spirituals to songs of civil rights and beyond, the influence of this music has spread throughout the world and through the show ‘Songs of Freedom’, Castlebar Gospel Choir will endeavour to celebrate this wonderful legacy.
Formed in 1999 by Father Michael Murphy and Niamh O’Kelly, Castlebar Gospel Choir has gone from strength to strength over the past ten years. Now, under the direction of Kathy Fahey the choir still keeps to its roots of singing uplifting and spiritual music.
