The route will take the cyclists along the N5 from Castlebar, stopping off in Swinford, onto Ballaghaderreen, French Park, Tulsk and arriving in Roscommon Town on Friday after at approximately 3.30pm. They will set off on Saturday Morning from the Abbeyfield Roscommon at 11am and begin their journey homeward via Castlerea, Ballyhaunis, Claremorris, Balla and arriving in Castlebar.

"Castlebar Cycling Club has been running a Charity Cycle for the last 10 years and this year, we are delighted to be associated with Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation" said John Brennan (Club Secretary). "There are very few people who have not been touched in some way or another by the work that is carried out by this organisation and the Palliative Home Care Team. We hope to raise a significant amount of money for this worthy cause and would ask that people dig deep and please support."

Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation is a Voluntary Organisation who depend on fundraising and donations to maintain and develop a much-needed service within the local community. In these difficult times they have to work even harder to maintain the service and ensure that it is not diminished in any way. There is an ever-increasing demand for the service and the annual running costs currently exceed over €1.3 million. With constant cutbacks from the HSE, the Home Care Teams are calling on Mayo Roscommon Hospice more and more each month for funding, which in turn, will see this annual target increase.

"In these challenging times it is becoming increasing difficult for charities to raise the necessary funds needed." Said Monica Brogan (Fundraising Manager Mayo Roscommon Hospice) "We have noticed a huge deficit in funds raised over the last few years. The proceeds from this event will help meet some of the shortfall and ensure that Palliative Care Services in Mayo & Roscommon can be maintained."

Collections will take place in each of the towns outlined in the route and people are being asked to please support this event in anyway they can.

For more information, please contact John Brennan on 09490 22966. Thank you for your support.
