Lions Club Food Appeal

This year's Lion's Club Food Appeal was run in conjunction with the local Tesco, Dunne's Stores and Supervalu where Lion Club members collected food and sold tickets for their annual Christmas Food Appeal draw to help raise funds for the local St Vincent De Paul.

Tesco Ireland held a national food appeal day on Saturday 15th of December where with the Lions club they arranged to collect and deliver food to the local St Vincent de Paul branches. Castlebar Lion's Club collected food in Castlebar, Swinford and Ballinrobe. A substantial quantity of food was collected and was gratefully received by the local charities whose need is great at this time of the year.

Our raffle was held on 22nd December in Mulroys Bar and due to very kind sponsorship we had four large hampers to give away. The lucky winners were:

3 Jimmy Staunton, Castlebar
4 Maeve Kelly, Newport Rd, Castlebar

Our Lion President Paddy O'Donnell would like to thank those stores who permitted the Castlebar Lion's Club to sell tickets and collect food on their premises, all the Lions Club members who gave of their time to work on this project, and finally all those who generously bought tickets and donated food may we wish you all a belated Happy Christmas and a Happy and prosperous new year.
