TruckScience start up is runner up in New Frontiers Awards in.GMIT GMIT Innovation Centre ‘New Frontiers’ awards runner up Sorcha.O’Grady, of TruckScience Ltd, receiving her award from An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, L to R: Jim Fennell, Head of GMIT Mayo campus, Des Mahon, Chairman of GMIT Governing Body, Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Sorcha O’Grady and Tony O’Kelly Manager GMIT Innovation Centre New Frontiers Programme. Sarah’s start up, TruckScience, is a cloud-based software solution, usable by non-engineers. It identifies the correct configuration of truck for their customer, vis à vis axle weight distribution, fuel consumption and costing. New Frontiers is funded by Enterprise Ireland. GMIT was one of the first Institutes of Technology approved to run the programme in 2013, which aims to create more new high potential start-ups businesses in the west. To date, outputs include 12 new businesses created since early 2012, 38 jobs, nine new products on the market, eight have revenue from.sales with great sales pipelines, seven have revenue from export sales,.six have won prestigious company awards and two have already attracted.equity investment.
