Boheh Stone/Rolling Sun Walking Festival

As part of Heritage Week 2013 (17th to 26th August), the Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail is hosting the Boheh Stone Walking Festival taking place on the Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August 2013.

Come and join local archaeologists and walking guides for an exploration of ancient Neolithic sites, the rolling sun phenomenon, and folklore and heritage stories.

On the Saturday evening hear about the unique Rock of Boheh and experience the rolling sun phenomenon where the sun appears to roll down the side of Croagh Patrick.

This is a moderate walk of 2 kilometres and is open to everyone, meeting and registration at Brackloon Community Centre at 7.00pm situated four miles out the Westport/Leenane road.
On Sunday come and enjoy the rich Mayo landscape with a 19 kilometre walk from Aughagower to Murrisk, this is a challenging walk, walking gear essential and bring a packed lunch.

This walk is not suitable for children under 16. Meeting in Murrisk Car park at the foot of Croagh Patrick at 9.30am and transport provided to start point at Aughagower Community Centre.

This is a guided heritage walk and also features a demonstration of the traditional sport of road bowling along the trail. Cost for the Festival is 5 euro.
