the details:

Horkan's Garden Centre is holding a small animal and plant family farm in its Castlebar centre from Wednesday 14 August to Sunday 25 August 2013.

Admission is free and the small animals are always a big hit with the kids. Pot-bellied pigs, chickens, kid goats, lambs and kittens will all be available to meet and play with. The kid goats will be bottle-fed daily at 1pm and 3pm, which is guaranteed to excite and delight the young and not-so-young alike.

All of the kittens are looking for new homes. Their mother was brought into Petworld, heavily pregnant and in need of a home. Horkan's very own Anna took her in, nursed her and is watching over the kittens now, but she can't keep them all!

The lambs are little foster lambs; their mothers either died or couldn't care for them. All of the lambs and the kid goats have been hand-reared and so are playful, fun and love human interaction. The potbellied pigs love nothing more than running around and getting into m i s c h i e f .

There may be special guests of some beautiful ducklings, as well as Sansa, a cockapoo (that's a cross between a cocker spaniel and a poodle). Sansa was rescued by the Mayo SPCA and given a new home. She loves getting big c u d d l e s .

There will be learning zones for anyone who is interested in looking after small animals or other wildlife, including wild birds.

Experts will be on hand to talk about easy to grow fruit and vegetables and how fresh produce can always be at your fingertips. It will be a fun, rewarding and educational experience for all of the family.
