Mark came to Ireland in 1992 as organist and director of music at Christ Church Cathedral Dublin. Organist of the Collegiate Church of St Nicholas, Galway, he now also pursues a busy freelance musical career internationally. In addition to his post in Galway, he is the founder-director of his own professional choir Resurgam, and holds the posts of chorus master to the RTÉ Philharmonic Choir and artistic director of Pipeworks. The concert is a fundraiser for the new Mayo International Choral Festival, taking place in Mayo, early in 2012. Plans are already well underway and a number of International and national choirs have indicated that they will travel to Mayo for this event. The event takes the form of competing and non competing choirs performing in venues all over Mayo over a four day period (May 24th -27th 2012), including a Gala Concert on the Saturday night in the Royal Theatre. The festival has got great support from day one with Failte Ireland being a big supporter, as well as the Mayo Lions Clubs and local choirs. The festival website was recently launched by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD. See www.mayochoral.com for more details

For a great night of music and song and to assist a great event, it's all happening on Fri 16th December, Church of the Holy Rosary Castlebar, 8pm. Adm e8.
