Castlebar Mitchels Notes 10/01/02

A Belated Happy New Year to one and all.

Vote of Sympathy.
At a recent executive meeting of the Castlebar Mitchels, a vote of sympathy was passed and a minute’s silence observed, for the repose of the soul of Seamus Henry, brother of Bord Na nOg Chairman Jerry. On behalf of all, our deepest sympathy is expressed to Jerry and all the Henry family. Ar dheis De a raibh a anam dílis.

Football.
Although the work is not completed yet, considerable progress has been made, in putting together many of the points as identified by the special sub committee, who reported to the AGM recently. This football plan has provoked a very positive reaction and the most important aspect facing the club is the ability to implement the recommendations. To this end a special club meeting will be held on Fri 25 Jan at 8 pm in the Welcome Inn Hotel at which it is planned to have the final pieces of the proposals and the management structures in place for the coming season.

Membership.
The annual membership intake is now taking place. Members and prospective members a re requested to forward their subscription of €20 to any officer of the club as soon as possible.

Development
Plans for the continuing development of the facilities at McHale Park are well under way. Improvements to the pitch itself are ongoing whilst completion of the project to have a 35,000 capacity all seated stadium will be realized before the Championship this year. It is hoped that the alterations to the Sportlann will be completed within the next few months, thus offering members an unrivalled facility. In the coming months experts on the installation of Astroturf will be visiting The Mitchels and exciting
developments are just ahead.

County Board Draw
The County Board Draw is a vital aspect in the clubs financial plans. Not only do the County Board benefit but indeed the Club and town of Castlebar also gains considerably. Members are requested to take at least one ticket each and to sell at least one other. What benefits the County Board directly benefits Castlebar Mitchels and ultimately the community of Castlebar. James Rock is the coordinator of the draw and all applications for further tickets should be made to James or any officer of the club.

Club Dinner
The annual club dinner will be held on 16 Feb in the Welcome Inn Hotel and tickets will be on sale shortly at €25 each. As usual the demand will definitely exceed the supply and so to avoid disappointment contact Auld Stock himself, or indeed any member of the executive. Need it be said, but following on the success of previous years, this year will again be spectacular. Don’t say you haven’t
been warned.

Web Site
We hope to have the web site up and running again shortly, so tell Aunt Agnes in Australia and Uncle Neddy in the States to have just a little more patience.
