Chernobyl Charity Concert

On Friday 9 March 2007, Christ Church, Castlebar, invites you to an evening of music, poetry and song, celebrating our relationship with our planet, Earth, and our need to prevent its further destruction.

Taking part in this evening are inter alia: Rev. Gary Hastings, Nollaig McAndrew, Eileen Grier and Parish Choir from the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar who are joined by some past members and some friends from the Male Voice Choir.

A special feature of the evening is the performance by the Choir of 'CREDO'

This Choral piece was recently composed by Mr. Brent Parker, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Chernobyl. To date this has only been performed once - in St. Patrick�s Cathedral, Dublin.

Brent Parker is a New Zealand-born composer and pianist who has lived and worked in Ireland for over 40 years. He has composed many solo and orchestral works, several of which have been broadcast by RTE and Lyric FM. On his retirement as lecturer at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin, he took up residence on Achill Island where he now works on a variety of music projects which include, Composer in Residence with Laois Co. Council and Laois School of Music.

We are delighted that Mr Parker will attend our Charity Evening on Friday March 9th at 8p.m. for the second performance of his choral composition, 'CREDO'
