Chris Kavanagh & The Patriots - The Legend of Luke Kelly
By the time he died in 1984 at the tragically young age of 44, Luke Kelly left an indelible mark as one of the best-known figures of the Irish folk movement that began in the 1960s, as epitomised by his time with The Dubliners and songs such as Raglan Road and Scorn Not His Simplicity. Singer and musician Chris Kavanagh and the Patriots present a tribute that celebrates Luke Kelly and his music and also introduces the great man to a new generation. Since 1991 Chris and his band have been amazing and delighting audiences with their powerful performances of Kelly?s music and unique presence. The band has featured on RTɦ#39;s Open House and Today FM?s The Last Word, and held an unprecedented three-month residency at The Olympia Theatre. Chris not only bears a remarkable resemblance to Luke, but also captures Kelly?s depth and passion. A night to remember and celebrate a major folk icon.
