Olwyn Murray, 20 years old, just graduated from Paul McCartney’s institute for performing arts in Liverpool with a 2:1 BA Hons. Music

First single just released now in the iTunes and in the Irish Charts.

From the age of eight Olwyn started getting vocal lessons with Lavinia Gilmartin in Ballina, from there she was a part of Irish singing feises receiving a number of medals, trophies and cups.

At the age of 10 Olwyn was a member of a group called ‘Spirit’,a group of seven girls from the Ballina area who performed throughout Mayo in concerts, pantos and different events.

Olwyn never stopped singing she was a part of many school musicals, and performed at many gigs with a number well known and accomplished artistes.

At the age of 15 Olwyn was chosen to sing on ‘The Late Late Toy Show’ on RTE. Olywn sang live on this show to viewing audience of in excess of one million.

In the summer of 2008 and 2009 Olwyn went to Los Angeles, Hollywood to perform in the ‘World Championship of Performing Arts’ were over the two years she won a total of five gold medals and a one silver medal for different categories in music and also got recognized by different record labels and was offered record deals.

In 2010 Olwyn entered the ‘All Ireland Talent Show’ on RTE representing the West for her mentor Daithi O’Shea. After performing live on RTE1 for several weeks in front of millions of viewers, next came a hectic promotional journey for Olwyn, radio shows, appearances at national schools, performing at gigs and concerts, attendance at local media events all to promote herself for the talent show. Olwyn was one of the finalists on the All-Ireland Talent Show in 2010 was also studying for her Leaving Certificate at Ballyhaunis Community School.

After her performance on the All-Ireland Talent Show Olwyn was invited to perform at many concert dates and festivals across the country.


September 2010 Olwyn moved to the UK to study music at ‘The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts’ (LIPA). Competition for places was intense and only after a number of interviews and auditions Olwyn was selected as one of 60 out of thousands of applicants for this course.

Working on her song writing and music skills Olwyn was soon writing her own songs and performing them around Liverpool.

She set up an acoustic band and was preforming at a wide range of venues. Studying a music degree in the UK, Olwyn wanted to get the best she could out of her studies. She recorded many tracks played with other talented musicians, collaborated with other song writers’ co-writing new material and worked with many people in the UK music industry.

December 2012 Olwyn was also a part of the Hillsborough Christmas Number One. ‘He ain’t heavy he’s my brother’ performing in the choir on the track with massive artists such as ‘Paul McCartney’ and ‘Robbie Williams’.

Olwyn set up a larger band with amazingly talented session musicians to play larger gigs and showcase her own music and the material that she co-wrote with other talented song writers and musicians. She is now doing a few mini gigs throughout Ireland to promote the single and try get it heard in as many places as possible .She is also recording a music video to go along with the song. Continuing to writing songs and planning her singles and music videos, next month Olwyn is releasing another single and she intends to perform at many venues and events throughout the country.
