Derrywash NS's High School Musical

The pupils of Derrywash N.S. have taken to the stage once again. This year all 87 pupils (from infants to 6th class) presented the popular 'High School Musical' on Thursday 21st June in the Traveller's Friend Theatre.

Until Troy met Gabriella, his dream was to win the basketball championship. But ever since they sang karaoke together on New Year's Eve, Troy can't get his mind off trying out for the lead role in the school musical - with Gabriella as his partner! Gabriella is struggling too.  The Scholastic Decathlon team could really use her help, but it would be fun to sing with Troy again. All their friends say it's a bad idea and that Troy and Gabriella should stick to the status quo.

In their hearts, Troy and Gabriella know they've got the talent to play the lead roles in the musical, so why is everyone standing in their way? Will Troy and Gabriella follow their dreams of being on the stage? Or will they have to give it all up to lead their teams to victory?

The students are enthusiastic actors and singers and have amassed much theatrical experience under the directorship of School Principal Mrs. Sharon Dunleavy and teachers Mrs. O'Brien, Mrs Martina O'Reilly, Ms. Aishling McDonagh and Mrs. Fiona Jennings.
