Promoting the study of science, engineering and technology at third level The Naughton Foundation will offer two students from County Mayo an annual scholarship in the Irish college of their choice in 2009.

In 2008 the Naughton Foundation created a new scholarship scheme for students in counties Meath, Louth and Monaghan to award annual scholarships to promote the study of engineering, science and technology at third level in any publicly funded university or third-level institution in Ireland, including Northern Ireland. This year the scholarship scheme is to expand and include counties Donegal and Mayo with the hope of expanding to additional counties over the coming years.

The first place award in each county is €4,000 for each year of that student’s third-level course.  The second place award in each county is €2,000 for each year of that student’s third level course and the school of each winning student will also receive €1,000 towards the school’s science labs.

The winners will be announced at a reception in October 2009. Application forms are available for download and can be completed on line on the Naughton Foundation website:  www.thenaughtonfoundation.com
