St Patricks BNS Raises the Green Flag

There was a great day of celebration in St Patricks BNS, on Friday 14th June ,as the school celebrated raising its 5th Green Flag for biodiversity.

Special Guests Cillian O'Connor and Jason Doherty came to the school to help raise the Green Flag and to meet some students especially the hard working Green Schools Committee, led by Mrs Liz McManamon and Mrs Stephanie McTeague.

Other visitors and speakers included Sharon Cameron of An Taisce, Mayor of Castlebar Brendan Heneghan, Chairperson of Mayo County Council Cyril Burke, Councillor Harry Barrett (teacher at St Patricks) and school principal Joe Carty. Mayo footballer Cillian O'Connor also spoke to the crowd gathered in the school hall for the occasion. A number of town councillors and other special guests were present.

The school band performed for the occasion and there was a great sense of achievement and celebration amongst staff and students.
