Mayo Youth Theatre is "Gone Fishing" for the Catch of the Day: Love. Over the last two weeks this vibrant group of inquisitive and creative young people from Ballina have embarked on a theatrical expedition to question and explore the eclectic spectrum of love and its evolution in the world of literature, music, film, television and the worldwide web. Over the course of their journey, the cast of "Gone Fishing" must ride the tidal wave of the Hollywood ideal, emulate the romantic heights of Shakespeare, and clamber competitively into the realm of reality TV, all in an effort to go beneath the superficial surface of the cultural drift. This quirky piece of devised theatre tinkers with love's many representations and realities, hoping to reveal the presence of love pure and simple and the timeless need for its existence in all of our lives. With only two weeks to explore this burning question, they ask you to join them to experience what they have discovered. Gone Fishing will cast off on Saturday July 27th and Sunday 28th at 8pm in Ballina Arts Centre. Please contact Ballina Arts Centre on (096) 73593 for tickets. MYT is an initiative of Mayo County Council and is a member of the National Association for Youth Drama.
