Laughter! The perfect remedy for the Recession Blues!

The Royal Theatre plays host to Encore Theatre Companys irreverent style of political satire, for one night only, (Friday 7th May), when their highly acclaimed musical comedy "Who Killed The Celtic Tiger" comes to Castlebar.

Previously presented in the Town Hall Theatre, Galway, the show received rave reviews and was labled "A hilarious blend of music and comedy that gives a well-deserved kick-in-the-ass to the Recession!"

Enda Kenny came face to face with his own caricature in Galway, and applauded a musical tribute to his ambitions of becoming An Taoiseach, but the show is certainly not an election campaign for any political party, as it takes a sideways swipe at most of the country's leading figures. Of course, it's all done in the best possible taste, and alongside the political figures, it features a charity "Song for Ireland" -perfromed by characters who look alot like Bono, Bob Geldof, Jedward, West Life, Crystal Swing, and even Daniel O'Donnell.

"Who Killed The Celtic Tiger" is the creation of writer, director and choreographer, Peter Kennedy, whose past productions have been included "The Pirate Queen" with Ballinrobe Musical Society and several school shows with Davitt College.  The cast of the show combines the cream of musical comedy talent from Galway and Mayo, including Ballinrobe's Michael Coen portraying Enda Kenny and Bono, Seamus Cafferky as Bertie Ahern and Ben Dunne, Richard Crumlish as Daniel O'Donnell and Niall Conway as Sir Bob Geldof.

It is hoped that this hilarious production will lead the way to more shows travelling from Galway to the Royal Theatre, and we hope that Castlebar will turn out in large numbers for this night of crazy musical comedy!
