New Fake Virus Warning

A fake virus warning is doing the rounds at present and it has hit Castlebar. Gareth O'Callaghan covered it on his 2FM Net News slot during the week (This slot is well worth listening to at 3:50 every weekday).
It invites you to delete one of your system files from your c: drive. Don't!
It says that the virus cannot be detected by Norton or McAfee. This is a fake warning. The file mentioned is a system file - a java debugger. Don't delete the file mentioned - do nothing. It is unlikely that after the first day or two of any new virus appearing that it would not be detected by the top virus checking software programmes such as McAfee so warnings of this nature are usually an indication that it is a fake warning. The warning is the virus so to speak.

A friend's Address Book has been infected by a virus and it was passed on to my computer. My Address Book in turn was infected. The virus (called jdbmgmr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus systems.
It sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by messenger and by the Address Book, whether or not you sent e-mails to your contacts.
