"Shocked at what it's become"? Isn't that a bit dramatic? It's a local newspaper not the New York Times. It provides a huge amount of coverage on what's happening all over Mayo. I don't think people read it to help formulate their political views (?) or to find out how they should vote in the Referendum. People read it for the small ads, the photographs of their neighbours winning prizes and attending functions, to find out who won the match, etc. Or am I missing the point? It has a circulation of 15,000 compared to 10k for the Mayo news and 24k for the Western so it's doing fine in the middle ground.
