Bush something? Mind you I was reading an article in yesterday's Indo whereby one of Bush's aides was heard to remark that God himself put Bush in power - With that kind of thinking in the White House and a kind of "with God on our side" kind of divine right/mission fundamentalist thinking one has to wonder... Christian Fundamentalists going to War with Islamic fundamentalists. 3rd Millennium Crusades. Also listened to the excellent Fergal Keane interview with Marian Finucane this morning of his experience in Iraq last week and the hopelessness, despair and optimism about the inevitability of war there is out there and the fear of the people both of the current regime and the forthcoming (They feel certain) war in which it is estimated that upwards of 100,000 Iraqis WILL most certainly die. As an aside, it might seem almost petty alongside that, but I wonder what the American's policy to the archaeological and historical treasures of Babylon will be when they do start bombing Baghdad, or will the go in and bomb the hell out of one of the cradles of civilisation with absolutely no regard for the historical significance of the place. Anyway - If God is trying to tell GW Bush something I think he's gonna have to be a bit more blatant - That man doesn't really get subtle messages like Sept 11th or Space Shuttle tragedies. Now if all the oil reserves on earth were to suddenly disappear...
