Interesting comments from all.Thanks for that.My daughter and her now husband(then boyfriend)were having a quiet drink in the afternoon in a pub in Ellison St(not the Irish House)probably the old Tanseys.Somebody overheard them talking or ordering their drinks and made some derogatory remarks about Americans.That was in 1999.They frankly did not take the bait and just left quietly after they finished their drink.Incidently they were made to feel very welcome in Johnny's.I grew up in Castlebar,my mother and one of my brothers still live there.I hope I would be welcome in my native town,but ye dont need to put out the red carpet.LOL
