Most of the same people who felt it was ok to drop the atomic bomb in Japan are ok with this 'preemptive strike'. Those who hold honor more dearly want hard proof of Iraq's weapons and intent. Well basically there is the nervous feeling of damned if you do/ damned if you don't. The people I hang around are generally open-minded and not quick to war. See on Sept. 11th most of my friends were discussing how we saw this coming for some time and that maybe some good could come out of that atrocity- the fact that now many Americans who turned a blind eye to our foreign policy would now have to owe up to our actions as a country. i am not saying that to condone the act of terrorism. I say that because I feel we need to behave in the interests of all nations or face awful reprocussions. This unfortunately hasn't happened. For most the blind eyes were again neatly blindfolded under the guise of patriotism. I will say that America's youth for the most part is unsupportive whereas the older generation is more likely to support it. Which makes sense when you think about who is going to do the fighting. I can say that the majority of americans will support their troops if they have to go over and fight. About half don't want to see that happen unless it is absolutely necessary.
