one thing that annoys me is that while i don't condone racists, its when those groups get special treatment because of people terrified of being called racist and things like that. they have gotten everyone to look at them this way because of what they have done. the point is that until they try to behave like people normally tend to and drop the crap they carry on with its going to be that way. fair enough they have tradition and all that but whereas the irish are notorious for getting drunk in the states, the travellers, itinerants, call them what you will are notorious for being violent.
basically i dont think the tone is racist. if there were a group of settled people who had a reputation similar to the travellers i would expect them to be turned down too. its the old case of having to prove yourself when nobody will give you a chance but thats what happens when you allow yourselves to get the reputation in the first place.
