"i dont thin its about proving worthy, its about earning trust"
Sounds like a classic case of bigotry to me. All you keep saying is that a complete group of people should be treated in an inferior manner because of the actions of some.
Should _ALL_ the people who attend GAA matches be treated in this fashion, because of the drunken behaviour of some?
Should _ALL_ students be refused service because of the bad behaviour of some?
Should _ALL_ tourists be refused admission because ot the bad behaviour of some?
And on and on.
Members of _many_ groups of people act in a non-civilized manner, but only _certain_ groups in society are subjected to the kind of treatment you suggest.
We call it bigotry.

"they;ve all had too many bad experiences with _them_ to trust _them_."
A simplistic, but ineffective rationale for condoning prejudicial behaviour. Treating _ALL_ members of a certain class of people in a negative fashion, because of the bad actions of _some_ of the members of that group, is prejudicial and bigoted.
