The original annoying comment was that all environmentalists are asses. The basic idea is to try and prevent such disasters and leave something worthwhile for the next generation. Those that have a fatalistic acceptance of our stupidity regardless of the cost to others - they surely are the 'asses'? I certainly hope that my grandchildren will not be poisoned by the air they breathe or the water they drink - but it's more than that - they should be able to enjoy the same birds, fish, plants wide open spaces that we or our parents enjoyed (and not just in zoos). The way we are going they simply will not. They will blame us not the 'asses' who tried to stop the destruction.
