Even without the gulf stream the ocean would have a moderating effect on Ireland climate...as long as a cold current didn't replace the gulf stream the climate would remain relativelt moderate. Unfortunately, as someone pointed out, one of the effects of global warming would likely be greater extremes all around - hot summers, cold winters. But, since we are talking about the warming effects, it is very likely that Ireland would experience a general shift towards warmer temps, and the change in climate world-wide would not necessarily affect the course of the gulf stream (which would now possibly be even warmer).
