It seems to be standard behaviour that the people at the top of hierarchcical structures like the church, business or sport expect those lower down to act to a higher standard that they themselves do not observe.

Case 1: The Cardinals and Bishops in the Catholic Church, as has been discussed in previous posts.
Case 2: Ken Lay and Jeff Scilling of Enron selling all their Enron stock whilst regular employees were effectively barred from doing so.
Case 3: The Scottish skier who lost his bronze medal due to an honest mistake whilst the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic were won thru' buying of votes as were the Sydney Olympics.

If we, in the western countries, were all poorer and had less to lose the time would be ripe for revolution, the majority of people have moved onto the middle class where revolution is no longer an option, people are much to worried about repaying their mortgage.

Meanwhile in other parts of the world people will take action when they are subject to unreasonable behaviour.

Let us all pull up a seat in front of the fire and watch Palestine and Israel self destruct.

Mischief of our own making, reality TV as if we need any more.
