I think the standard of architectue in Castlebar is a lot higher than in many other Irish towns. You dont have the dreary monotonus building styles (e.g. everything in redbrick or grey) that a lot of other towns suffer from and with the exception of part of castle street and McHale park there are very few dilapidated run down buildings
