As pointed out above we did try this type of system back in 1998. Unfortunately the registration requirement killed the board. Remember that Castlebar is a small town and even though we have ~2000 visits per day only a small percentage of visitors are likely to post or vote even if there are no restrictions. With a membership requirement it would reduce this even further. In this particular case the individual who made the posting was easily identified. Remember too that there would be nothing to stop an individual registering and posting obnoxiuous material which would have to be removed just as we do on the Castlebar BB. This board even has a facility to automatically remove 'bad' words but it hasn't been necessary to turn this option on. AND WE ARE HEADING FOR 50,000 POSTS on this BB alone!
