With due respect P.J., to compare the situation in Iraq to the film Ben Hur pretty much sums up the simplistic understanding which so many people have of the situation. One would think from your comments that Charlton and George W. are sitting in a bar, smoking cigars and deciding over a J.D. what-in-the-hell this country needs right now. Perhaps that is why the U.S. is in such a shambles !!!!!!! I've got an idea; let's apologise to Sadaam, tell him it was all a mistake and give him back his country. Let's face it, we probably mis-understood his good intentions and, no, we havn't been paying for all the oil over the years which have built his lavish palaces and given him the opportunity to divert the money from his suffering millions, we simply have been abusing our position of power in the world. If we are really honest, no matter what we do, everyone will say it was the wrong thing to do, it was done for the wrong reasons, and the consequences are the fault of the doer.
Every voice has the solution, every openion is always the correct one. Of course, none of these are actually relevent because they never get any further than wishes or openions and, consequently, have no consequence. Unfortunately, someone has to take action. It is never a win situation because there is always the bleeding heart who can find a reason not to do anything. Isn't it always the case that the position of the one who threatens the agressor is that much easier than the position of the agressor himself. "Wait until your father comes home, then you are really in trouble".
