The average person struggles. A single person must let out the rooms to try to cover the mortgage while a couple must stay at work. An autioneer told me recently the day of normal people buying to let in Castlebar is also gone. The rent won't cover the mortgage at current prices therefore its either the very rich who continue investing or homeowners who want a place of their own.
