I agree with your sentiment, but we shouldn't be too sensitve. I worked in England for seven years and I myself told Paddy-Irishman jokes before, during and after my stay. I wouldn't be so lacking in confidence to deny anyone their jokes. What I would object to is malicious rasism, and I found the worst deep-down racists were those who openly objected to racial jokes. In some cases I have seen "white" fellows tell "black" jokes in the company of "black" people. The people to objest are the not the "black" people, but the "white" people who noticed there were "black" people there. And boy do they notice. The joke-teller just saw a group of people, the joke was just a joke.
