Banning auctioneers from public office sounds like a nice idea in theory but is rather undemocratic It suggests that ALL auctioneers are corrupt which is not necessairly the case.

One could just as easily make the case that soliciters, barristers, accountants or businesspeople in general should be excluded from public office but at the end of the day its the people who chose who gets elected and we end up with the government we deserve
