I understand the chat room was abandoned (Im open to correction on this for three reasons)

1) Technical difficulties
2) Inability to register activity levels (hits) to hgauge popularity
3) Impossibility of moderating live chat on a 24 hour basis.

Maybe its time to take another look into the idea of a second (unarchived) BB devoted to "chat threads"

This was suggested before but the fear was expressed that two BB's would lead to two dead BB's instead of one busy one.

I would strongly dsispute this on the following grounds
1) We ALREADY HAVE A SECOND BB which hasnt led to any drop in activity on the main one. Its called "the nostalgia board"
2) In the early days 1998-99 of the site when activity was much lower and fewer posters were an the BB operated quite healthily (And a lot of people woluld claim it was healthier than it is now)
3) A second (third ?) BB would probably lead to less of the discontentment which has reared its head recently. "Chatters" would have their BB "Traditionalists" (for want of a better word) would have theirs. Many people would probably dip in and out of both and youd have fewer people getting discontented and giving up on the whole thing.
