Edmund Foley was 24 and from Galbally in Limerick. He was involved in the resuce of Sean Hogan who had been captured in Thurles. Patrick Maher was 32 and was arrested with Edmund Foley and another man, Michael Murphy.They were found guilty and sentenced to death for shooting and RIC sergeant during the rescue. Michael Murphy was acquitted on the grounds of unreliable evidence. The two men were hanged on 7 June 1921.
