Whatever camera you decide to get I'd recommend that get yourself a couple of 64MB memory cards - you'll then be able to hold over 200 photos at quite high and detailed resolutions.

Here's my recommendation for someone starting out in the area of digital photography - it's compact (fits in a ladys handbag), relatively easy to use, and will allow you to display your images on most modern TVs as well as on the PC.
