The new traffic routes and signage are a serious attempt to improve traffic flow through the centre ( an lár ) of Dublin, and the haste with which the Minister for Transport has rubbished the project smacks of petty politicking.
As I see it Shamy Brennan, our Government Transport Czar, on arriving back from his holidays was aghast that an effort had been made to improve traffic flow without without his imprimatur and launch publicity. But Sham soon rectified that and without giving the project half a chance, carpetted and humiliated the people from the City Council.
Now that Sham ( who of course is chauffered around in a Mercedes at taxpayers expense), has taken an interest in road signage, maybe we will see an improvement in the dreadfully inadequate road signage around the country. Inadequate and inaccurate road signs are the subject of most tourist complaints, according to Bord Fáilte.
