Check in your modem properties that you havent set your modem to disconnect after say 2 or 3 minutes of inactivity. Increace this setting to 15 minutes or so

I think the sequence is something like
My computer - dial up networkling -eircom (right click) properties

Maybe someone out there with a dial up connection can check if im right
