First off most Americans didnt vote in the last election.
Secondly Most Americans who did vote didnt choose Bush (There is a lot of controversy aabout the validity of his election and even his supporters conceed he didnt win the popular vote)
Thirdly theres a lot of regional difference culturally and politically within the US (It is a LARGE and diverse country remember) in some areas (The Southeast for example) Bush is very popular elsewhere much less so
