I see no reason why Mayo shouldnt have as many stations as the market (and the frequency bands) can support. At the moment there are unused FM (103.7)and AM (1251) frequencies available for county stations along with space for additional community stations in Ballina and Westport. And with more efficent planning several more could be made available. We are supposed to live in a free market society so why do we tolerate a semi-monopoly situation in local radio ? Some may question the viability of additional services but surely this should be for risk-taking entuepreneurs and consumers to decide
