As far as I know, an application must be submitted to 2 publications i.e. if someone is building a house in say, Islandeady, they would probably use the CT and maybe Mayo News. While I take Dee's point that the Irish Times would have a far greater readership, how many of those readers would be looking at the planning applications because I would imagine that it would be mainly Dublin applicants submitting their applications there. My feeling about it is, if the developers have nothing to hide or fear, then why don't they submit their amended application in the local press where local people are the ones reading it. I think there is a far greater chance of it having gone unnoticed in the Irish Times. I'm not sure about the facts and stand to be corrected!!!
