Its BECAUSE of proportional representation that the NI assembly is likely ro represent the electorate fairly accurately.

In mainland Britain where they use the "first past the post" system the Tories were in power for 18 years despite the fact that at the height of their popularity they only had 42% of the vote

Had Ireland adopted such a crazy system FF would had held power for over 70 years
