And does it mean that they always secretly supported the violence they participated in?" Its simply I.M.O. that many Irish people would like to see themselves as republican but could never countence supporting sinn fein while they supported terror. If the IRA started up their campaign of violence again the opinion polls would be shot from under them, its a healthy situation to find that theyre being rewarded for following a peaceful path (some would say there shouldn't be a reward for simply playing by the rules). However I just hope the fringe loyalists will still remain on ceasefire after the likes of Billy Hutchingson lost his seat.
