If we have time we remove all the traces and for a while we used to write 'deleted post' on the offending article. But unfortunately all this takes time. The board management software we are using simply deletes a post but unfortunately doesn't work its way back up the thread deleting the links to the deleted message. The alternative would be to delete the whole thread but that would be a bit drastic especially if there's only one in the middle of a long thread. We will put it on the list of things to do folks!
