CBR is a town of about 10,000 but 25,000 living within a 5mile radius. Excellent place to live as it is small enough not to be bugged by bad traffic problems, crime, etc. but big enough to have plenty of good restaurants, even cinema screens, the Linenhall Arts Centre - check out their web page for details of this months programme as an example of a fairly typical month. Good library, reasonable internet access (broadband coming we believe) - maybe a bit light on good classical music but lots of traditional Irish especially in the pubs where sessions are regular in a number of pubs. Lots of clubs and organisations to join - sports, community, etc. It ain't quiet unless you want it to be. You could end up attending some function or another every night of the week if you have the stamina. You may find things somewhat expensive depending on which part of the USA you are coming from. If you live in Manhattan it will be cheaper but if California probably more expensive. Having said that rented accommodation is nothing like Dublin (or Manhattan!) - much cheaper.
