When I was a kid there was only one channel on the TV and during the summer there were no kids programmes during the summer because RTE had some wierd idea that kids should be out playing during the summer
There were two flaws in this idea
1) It rains a lot in ireland (duh)
2) Not all kids have a place to play outside/live near their schoolfriends When you live in the middle of town playing in the streets isint much of an option

We had some friends who further up the hill and could get a picture (albeit snowy) from UTV (this was before deflectors)

Needless to say these kids were considered gods
