If things in the North were really so bad more people would move South. Hardline Nationalists (or "Republicans" as they like to call themselves) often like to portray themselves as being like Palestinians or Kurds but unlike either of these groups Those in NI who want to be part of Ireland have that option Fact: Both Governments along with most Northern Parties including (albeit with some reluctance) SF have signed up to the Belfast Agreement which states that there will be a United Ireland if and when the majority in the North want it. As it stands large majority of people in Northern Ireland want to remain part of the UK and it looks like remaining that way for the forseeable future. The Belfast Agreement was also put to the people of Ireland and 86% of them voted for it (96% in the South and 70% in the North) so al this talk of "Britain occupying Ireland" is as nonsensical as to suggest that the USA is occupying Florida. Fact: Sinn Fein/IRA and their so-called "loyalist" counterparts are little more than a facist mafia. Apart from Terrorisim, Murder, Blatently sectarian attacks etc they are heavily involved in Drug trafficking, Kidnapping , Extortion, Smuggling, Intimidation, Counterfitting, and murdering police officers (on both sides of the border) They have as much contempt for law and Order or democracy in the Republic as they do in the UK. They even aim to overthrow the Irish Government after they achive a "United" Ireland Fact: Sinn Fein dont even have any coherent political strategy. On the one hand they portray themselves as a left wing movement forming links with "revolutionary" groups in Cuba, Columbia, Nicuragua, Turkish Kurdistan, South Africa, Palestine etc and on the other hand they rub sholders with Americans esablishment bigshots at $500 per plate Noraid fundraisers. They are not a Socialist party at all but an extreme Nationalist party. They sided with their fellow "National Socialists" in Germany during World War 2. Fact: Terrible things have been done throughout history by all sides in Ireland (British Government, Irish Government, "Republicans", "Loyalists", Army, Police, Churches etc) But most of us are trying to leave all that behind us. Nobody can claim the high moral ground on this issue and nobody has the monopoly on suffering but The Shinners grossly exagurate the problems of the Nationalisit community (even though its the IRA themselves that have caused many of these problems) while ignoring all hurt that has been caused to everyone else. Oh and most of the so-called "political prisoners" have been released (even though most of them should never have been) and the H-Blocks that havent been demolished are lying empty. Many of these so-called "political prisoners" like to compare themselves with people like Nelson Mandella but it should be remembered that Adolf Hitler was once a "Political Prisoner" as well
