There are a few photos in the Connaught this week of the Town Council signing the deal for the construction of the Town's first playground in quite a while. Courtesy of the 100,000 fine imposed on the cowboys who knocked down the convent.

There used to be small playgrounds - see-saws and the like on estates all over the town at one stage but accidents and insurance problems forced their closure. Also I distinctly remember one residents' association refusing point blank to allow a playground on their green area because of the noise it would create and 'bad elements' that such a facility might attract into their nice estate!!!
